Join the crew of the Belt Railway of Chicago's "Cookie Job". We ride in the cab and see the operation from the ground too. Learn about the EMD SW1200 switcher from the engineers. We'll also visit the Operations Center and see the dispatcher at work.
This is a fascinating look at hard-core railroad switching, from a local job to yard switching... from "kicking cars" to assembling trains, we get to see it all.

This is another DVD in the Belt Railway of Chicago series. This time, the 1 hour 25 minute program concentrates on BRC EMD SW-1200 #525 as it switches cars at yards and industries, both from within the cab and from the ground. The viewer can learn a lot about how the engineer runs the locomotive as well as the work of the rest of the crew that throws the track switches to get the train or cars to the right tracks. Along the way, other BRC locomotives are seen as well as motive power from other lines. This is a unique program, but I was put off by video exposure contrasts affecting overall focus.
